In an intimate selection of artworks that span photography, glass, printmaking, and built objects, the artists' spark a series of conversations on the relationship to spaces where Black people have historically found refuge and have used re[member]ed tactics, strategies, games, and recipes to thwart death.

Jaime Cortez’s novel, Gordo, is a humorous, heartwarming, and heartbreaking debut story collection, based on his own real-life experiences, gives voice to a community of migrant farm workers in the West, and in the process broadens the scope of American literature.

Musiacs came to Saint Joseph’s for a collaboration between 17 year old composer Skyler Lee Baysa, renowned cellist Peter Myers, and pianist Audrey Vardanega.

Saint Joseph’s sister saint, Little Saint, made a grand entrance into the world by celebrating the opening of their 100% plant-based dining experience on Earth Day 2022.

An opportunity to support our February Artist in Residence, Opera Parallèle, by attending John Holiday’s San Francisco debut. Specialty cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served by the Hugh Groman Group.

The night began with the crowd weaving through interactive salons while enjoying nosh and drinks. Then, Access Institute’s Executive Director, Bart Magee, PhD, facilitated an intimate conversation exploring the most pressing social and emotional issues of the day with artists Victoria Wagner, Andy Diaz Hope, Jon Bernson, and Phillip Hua.

Saint Joseph’s members were given advance notice and complimentary tickets to Sofar Sounds concert at the church. Sofar Sounds creates immersive, small musical experiences that typically feature three diverse acts, with no headliner. The exact venues are typically not shared until 24 hours before the show, and the performers are revealed when they step-up to the mic.

A night to dress in your best cocktail couture to celebrate local artists, as well as support Hospitality House and their Community Arts Program.

The San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary Fashion Show, presented by Sam Malouf Authentic Luxury, featured Maison Rabih Kayrouz’ latest collection. This event benefited a wide-range of SF Ballet initiatives, including new works, scholarships for SF Ballet School students, and community engagement programs.

In partnership with The Cultivist, members were invited to attend a conversation with Julio César Morales on the occasion of the artist's show at Gallery Wendi Norris, La Luz Entre Nosotros (The Light Between Us) , a neon installation accompanied by an original sound composition.

In collaboration with The Third Place, Saint Joseph’s welcomed members to an exclusive, invite-only evening of music and modern flavors inspired by decades of Pakistani family recipes. The night included an intimate performance by Arooj Aftab, the first Pakistani singer to win a Grammy, and delectable bites by Chef Rubab, chef-owner of Babo’s Kitchen.

Our members were able to experience our 2022 Artist in Residence, Opera Parallele, with an exciting peek at the rehearsal process for their new opera Sophia’s Forest, which explores an immigrant family’s story of hope and healing through the power of imagination.

Saint Joseph’s partnered with Valley of the Moon Music Festival for a series of live concerts showcasing both emerging musicians as well as seasoned professional musicians.

Champian Fulton is a Jazz vocalist and pianist who won Hot House's Female Jazz Vocalist of the year in 2019.

Gabriel Gold, an internationally renowned Bay Area musician, celebrated his move to Iceland and the release of his new album with a live performance. Additionally, he used the space to shoot one of his music videos.

Becoming, curated by Erica Deeman, considers how we mark and measure transformations in our own lives, in the world around us, as well as the spaces between us.

As Outside Lands moved inside, Saint Joseph’s hosted the extraordinary Tycho, who performed under DRIFT’s Flylight as part of Outside Lands’ virtual concert series.

For their residency at Saint Joseph’s, DJ Mason Bates, conductor Benjamin Schwartz, and visual designer Anne Patterson created Cathedral, a four-part series of meditative music and electronica.

Grammy Award–winning cellist, Jonah Kim, hosted two concerts over the summer during his residency with us. These performances featured SF Ballet’s principal dancer, Misa Kuranga, and soloist, Julia Rowe.

In June, iconic Bay Area performer Paula West live-streamed from Saint Joseph’s alongside Adam Shulman on piano, Aaron Germain on bass, Greg Wyser-Pratte on drums, and Scott Sorkin on guitar. The proceeds from the concert went directly to local musicians who were struggling during the pandemic.

The design and restoration team of Saint Joseph's was honored with a California Preservation Award.

Valentine’s Day did not disappoint, as we welcomed sexual anthropologist and provocateur, Betony Vernon to San Francisco to share her recent book, Boudoir Bible. Artist, David Downton was also in town for a one-night-only exhibition of his romantic portraits.

On a late September night, the steeples were further illuminated by the glow of spotlights as celebrity.

In January, Carpenters Workshop Gallery opened an exhibition featuring site-specific work by the artist collective, DRIFT.

The installation in Saint Joseph's former vestry, which runs from January 15th through March 8, features a site-specific selection of works from the esteemed New York gallery, including mid-century collectible designs by Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Guariche, sculpture by Alexander Calder and Ken Price, and paintings by Alberto Burri.
